Our youth ministry reaches beyond our church campus to places as far away as Micronesia, South Dakota, Fiji, the New England states, and Chicago. Our youth ministry touches the lives of our neighbor islands and local community, too. SUNDAY SERVICEOur youth participate in the 8:30 AM worship service by ushering, reading scripture, assisting with offering, serving communion, and singing. YOUTH CHOIROur youth grades 7-12 bring the joy of God's love through the gift of song on Sunday mornings. COMMUNITY OUTREACHCome join our young people as they provide services and aloha to the community. Their activities include preparing and serving meals for the homeless, preparing dinner at the Ronald McDonald House, participating in cleanups, and assisting a variety of other organizations and programs. AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMCentral Union Church's Youth Room is open for all youth as a safe, wholesome environment to hang out, build new friendships, enjoy pool, ping-pong, computer and board games, relax with a good video or book, and get homework from school done. PREVENTION PROGRAMSSmart Moves teaches substance abuse and teen pregnancy prevention. Baby-Think-It-Over provides computerized "babies" that stimulate a real-life parenting experience. This program is available for implementation in schools. CONFIRMATIONCentral Union Church's Confirmation Program takes young people through a shared, organized faith journey. It is in these gatherings where young people discover what a life of faith means, its obligations, and its joys. It is available for ninth-graders and older youth, and yes, adults who have not yet been confirmed. Time, care, and faith are shared in the Confirmation process. The history of the church, scripture, and discipleship are explored, too. *************** |
