SENIOR CENTER AND SENIOR SERVICES

The Senior Center

offers active older adults a rich community to grow, learn, and meet new friends. Activities are scheduled throughout the week. Please see the Senior Center Newsletter (click to download current newsletter as a PDF file) for information on activities and events.

Senior Services

provide support and education to older adults and their families. Services include:

  • Parish Nursing Program provides one-on-one consultation with a Registered Nurse for health education, caregiver support, community referrals, blood pressure screening and more.   • Medical Equipment Loan provides walkers, canes, wheelchairs, shower chairs and other equipment for loan. No fee. Donations of your used medical equipment (in good condition) gratefully accepted.

  • Wheels for Faith offers transportation to senior members of the church who can no longer drive and have no other way to Sunday services. Please contact Bob Coulter at 942-2676 or rcoulter@hawaii.edu if you need a ride.

  • Friends Together matches church members with older adults in our church community who can no longer make it to church. The program works to ensure lasting and meaningful connections between our "Senior Treasure" and the larger church as they age. You can volunteer as an individual, family, youth, or couple. Training is provided. Have you hugged your kapuna today?

  • Parkinsons Support Group meets monthly and is led by the Hawaii Parksinsons Association.

  • Caregiver Academy offers in-depth education to families who are caring for older adults at home. The program is led by ElderCare Hawaii and the Franciscan Adult Day Care. New series begining Fall 2005.

Purpose Statement

"The Senior Services Committee of Central Union Church seeks to pomtoe physical, spiritual, and emotional health among senior members through:

  • Health promotion and disease prevention programs
  • Opportunities for seniors to continue to fulfill their [personal ministries
  • Programs that offer opportunities for members of all ages to provide scaring and direct support to our seniors and their caregivers
  • Social activities and events for our senior members

Senior Center and Senior Service programs are open to everyone in the community. Visitors are welcome to attend. Please drop by and see us!
