ADULT EDUCATION & SPIRITUAL NURTURECentral Union Church's members and ministers invite you to learn, live, and love the way Christ taught us. Our church continuously sponsors a variety of forums where we seek to understand both the Word and the world. The study of Scripture for us is ongoing and alive leading us to testimonies pointing revelation so that we may be touched, guided, comforted, and inspired. Come! Be challenged, be stimulated! Join us in our ever-evolving faith journey and discipleship. Our Adult Education and Spiritual Nurture Ministry coordinates and plans programs for Sunday morning, weekday and evening times. Other learning opportunities are available throughout the year, too. Contacts: Pastor Nancy Lockwood: nlockwood@gmail.com or call the church at (808) 941-0957. NEW!! Disciple Bible Study flyer and application form now available online (scroll down for more information or click here to download the PDF file.)
WHAT IS ALPHA?Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith. Learning and laughter. It is possible to learn about the Christian faith and have fun at the same time. Pretty terrific food. Eating a meal together gives people an opportunity to get to know each other. Helping one another. The small groups give you a chance to discus issues raised in the talks. Ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is regarded as too simple or too hostile. Alpha is for everyone. It is especially for * those wanting to investigate Christianity * newcomers to the church * new Christians * those who want to brush up on the basics or be refreshed in their faith. The Alpha Course is free and so is childcare.. Register now for our next Alpha Course which begins Saturday, September 15, 2007 for ten Saturdays in the Makai Room of the Parish Hall, 10 a.m.- 12:45 p.m. (light lunch served) with Pastor Ron Ching, chingr030@hawaii.rr.com, or walk over to the Welcome and Information Center at the Aloha Lanai on Sundays to register after the 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. services. The Alpha Course asks and explores the questions which we all seek answers: "What is the point of life? ... What happens when we die? ... How Do I Pray? ... What relevance does Jesus have for our lives today? ... How do we deal with guilt? ... How can I Overcome Evil? etc." Come and see why over 10 million people worldwide have enjoyed their Alpha experience and the overflow of blessings to individuals, marriages, families, churches and communities! Former Alpha "grads" are invited to apply to be on the new Alpha Team which hosts the Course.
