At-A-Glance
Mission/Vision Statement
To provide support to the ministers to enhance the worship experience.
Who or What is this ministry directed to do?
Ushers serve all people attending church services:
Before worshipers arrive, ushers open doors, turn on lights, straighten pews, distribute the Ritual of Friendship, test microphones, and light candles.
Ushers rope off pews for baptisms, communion, new members, choirs, or special visitors.
Ushers may help worshipers up steps or push their wheelchair.
Ushers try to note where family members sit so they can seat spouses together and children with parents.
Ushers supervise the exit of children after the children’s sermon, count the worshipers, and collect the offering.
After the service ends, ushers deposit the offering, then clean and straighten Atherton Chapel, the Sanctuary, and/or the Parish Hall, recycle bulletins, and collect the Rituals of Friendship.
Goals
To encourage others to help with ushering duties, especially at large services, such as Easter and Christmas. Please join us in passing out bulletins, collecting the offering, and cleanup. There are no age limits and no experience is necessary, just a few moments of your Sunday morning. To volunteer, speak to any of our ushers when you enter the service, or stop by after the service and lend a hand.
Upcoming projects/ongoing events
Every Sunday, the ushers are blessed with, and want to thank, the dedicated people who unselfishly share their time and efforts to enhance the worship experience at Central Union Church:
…those who regularly assist at the 7:00 AM and 11:30 AM services.
…the 7:00 AM worshipers who regularly come after the service to help set up for the 9:00 AM service and the 11:30 AM worshipers who regularly come early to help with the 9:00 AM service.
…our dedicated youth who assist with the collection of the offering at the 9:00 AM service and the parents who fill in when the youth are singing.
…volunteers who help clean up after the services.
…volunteers who usher at the Easter and Christmas Eve services. Your efforts help make these services memorable experiences for both our members and visitors.
When and what time do we meet?
The Ushers meet every Sunday and as needed.
